Banking:
Ed Weinstein. Over the past twenty years, Ed has developed
and run more than 400 studies in financial services including a 35-country
multi-year study of trade banking and a 15-year study of corporate treasury
management. Ed’s clients have included most of the world’s largest banks,
as well as a cross-section of other financial institutions. He has conducted
international projects on behalf of Fidelity, Citigroup, ABN-Amro, IOSCO,
BNP Paribas, Deutsche-BT and many others. His domestic clients have included
most major financial institutions and financial industry associations. Ed
holds a PhD in Measurement & Evaluation (Applied Statistics) and is
also a licensed Industrial Psychologist.
Jim Thompson
is a senior bank executive with over thirty
years of experience as an international banker
with active involvement in all aspects of trade
finance, institutional sales, electronic banking
and overseas branch management. He spent 16
years abroad working in Belgium, Zaire,
Philippines, Singapore and France and has
negotiated deals in over 50 countries. Jim has
an MBA in International Business and is fluent
in both English and French. He is currently an
International Advisory Board Member for the
Bankers Association for Finance & Trade.
Brian McArthur
has been a leading member of the Canadian
treasury management community for over thirty
years. His key areas of expertise include cash
management, strategic sales, relationship
management, training and professional
development. He is best known for his sales
management skills, which have earned him several
awards and national recognition. Brian began his
career at Royal Bank of Canada and later moved
to Citibank to assume the role of VP Cash
Management. He rejoined RBC, where he held the
positions of National Sales Manager and VP
Treasury Management. Brian is a Past President
and Director of the Treasury Management
Association of Canada.
Neil Story brings over 20 years experience as a banking
executive to the business. Neil began his career as an FX and money market
trader in London. He later became Head of the Eurobond settlement group
and Head of institutional Eurobond sales for a major international bank.
Neil has also worked as an investment manager and a credit analyst, as well
as working in correspondent banking, cash management and trade. He also
served as Deputy Operations Manager for a US bank subsidiary. Neil’s recent
work also involved development of new initiatives for Smart cards and debit
cards. Neil regularly authors articles for financial services publications.
Wayne Boyle is a senior finance professional with over
20 years of experience in finance, treasury management, financial system
design and implementation. As VP & Treasurer of a Top 500 company, Wayne
was responsible for implementing many significant changes, including implementation
of a new cash management system and management of the company’s credit agreements
with its banks.
Lori Bottrell. Lori is a research consultant with a specialization
in project management, focus groups and analysis of qualitative data. Overseeing
the day-to-day activities of fieldwork and specially trained in N6 software
for qualitative analysis, Lori provides unique insights into our interview
findings. She also interviews senior level respondents and opinion leaders
and plays an active involvement with study design and development. Her scope
of fieldwork spans national and international boundaries that often involves
managing diversity in language, culture and business practices. Over
the last four years, Lori has participated in well over 30 projects including
several studies on electronic banking and global trade.
Dina Al-Saffar.
With a degree in Applied Quantitative Information Technology and a Diploma
in Operational Research, Dina is a research consultant with a focus on
quantitative analysis and the use of online databases for intelligence
gathering. She is also experienced in modeling and simulation work. In
addition to her analytic work, Dina co-authored several studies, including a
global trade outsourcing study. Prior experience includes work as an e-commerce tele-consultant
on behalf of Microsoft b-Central.
Colleen Watson. Colleen has over 20 years of business experience
in Canada and in the U.S. She has held management positions at CIBC, American
Express and Burns Fry Limited. As a Partner at Burns Fry, she was Vice-President
and Director - Human Resources and a member of the Senior Planning Committee.
Colleen has completed the Canadian Securities, Registered Representative,
Partners, Directors and Officer Accreditations. She is Past Chairperson
for the Investment Dealer’s Association Compensation Committee.
Brian Woolsey. After a career in the Public Service and
subsequent work in the insurance industry, Brian has worked extensively
with The Brondesbury Group. He has interviewed both buyers and sellers of
financial services around the globe as part of this work. During his career
in the public service, both federally and provincially, Brian successfully
developed and executed business plans aiming to improve communication with
the public. In the latter part of his career, Brian’s work focused on creating
public and private sector joint ventures. His understanding of the public
and private sector is integral to his work with The Brondesbury Group.
