Public Sector:
Ed Weinstein.
Over the past 25 years, Ed has developed and run
more than 500 studies relating to financial
services for both public and private sector
clients. Ed’s public sector clients have
included departments and agencies focused on
diverse financial issues including: deposit
insurance, trade finance, securities regulation,
professional accreditation, international
development, investor education, and financial
consumer protection. Several of the public
sector relationships are long-term advisory
relationships including strategy development,
research management, and monitoring of
achievement of objectives. Short-term
assignments are common and typically have a
well-defined technical focus. Ed holds a PhD in
Measurement & Evaluation (Applied Statistics)
from the Ontario Institute for Studies in
Education of the University of Toronto. He is
also a licensed Industrial-Organizational
Psychologist.
Jim Thompson
is a senior bank executive with over thirty
years of experience as an international banker
with active involvement in all aspects of trade
finance, institutional sales, electronic banking
and overseas branch management. He spent 16
years abroad working in Belgium, Zaire,
Philippines, Singapore and France and has
negotiated deals in over 50 countries. Jim has
an MBA in International Business and is fluent
in both English and French. He is currently an
International Advisory Board Member for the
Bankers Association for Finance & Trade.
Judith Weinstein. Judith is a Partner in The Brondesbury Group.
Her practice focuses on increasing knowledge and understanding of effective
performance and processes in health care. Judith developed and led a decision
support group at a large community hospital group that provided guidance
for clinical, administrative and financial decisions, and directed a funded
project resulting in a successful care management system. Her consulting
has included work in clinical pathways, needs assessment regarding strategies
for integrated evidence-based clinical management tools, and strategies
for care provider groups to develop tools and systems targeted to regional
needs. Judith holds an MA in Program Evaluation and Computer Applications
from the University of Toronto and nursing credentials in Ontario, Quebec,
and the UK.
Laura Pisko-Bezruchko, BSc, MHA
is a public sector strategist with over two
decades leading successful change processes. She
has extensive experience with strategic
planning, stakeholder engagement, public sector
system design, policy development and enhancing
accountability of complex NGOs. She has honed
her political acuity and solution orientation
working for, and with, crown agencies, NGOs and
the Ontario government. In one of her recent
Senior Director roles, Laura engaged over 6,000
stakeholders to create a comprehensive strategic
plan for 200+ service organizations. Over 16
years in the Ontario government, Laura assumed
progressively more responsible senior management
roles.
She worked effectively to manage controversial
system issues, build relationships and enhance
performance of hospitals and two large
revenue-producing Crown agencies (Ontario Realty
Corporation and the Lottery and Gaming
Corporation).
Ken Moore.
Ken has 15 years of experience with the
Canadian Federal Government, serving in roles of
increasing responsibility in project management
and flight operations, often working with UN,
Red Cross, Red Crescent, and other humanitarian
agencies. His work often times included
delivery of humanitarian aid to countries in
Africa, Latin America and Asia, giving him
first-hand experience of aid programs in
distressed areas. Subsequently, Ken started a
10-year career in Finance, including senior
roles in Investment Banking and Institutional
Equities, with a focus on Technology, Aerospace
and Biotechnology sectors. Ken has an MBA and a
Baccalaureate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He has completed the NASD Series 37, 63 and 24
exams, as well as the IDA’s CSC, CPH, PDO and
Branch Manager Courses.
Lori Bottrell. Lori is a research consultant with a specialization
in project management, focus groups and analysis of qualitative data. Overseeing
the day-to-day activities of fieldwork and specially trained in N6 software
for qualitative analysis, Lori provides unique insights into our interview
findings. She also interviews senior level respondents and opinion leaders
and plays an active involvement with study design and development. Her scope
of fieldwork spans national and international boundaries that often involves
managing diversity in language, culture and business practices. Over
the last four years, Lori has participated in well over 30 projects including
several studies on electronic banking and global trade.
Dina Al-Saffar.
With a degree in Applied Quantitative Information Technology and a Diploma
in Operational Research, Dina is a research consultant with a focus on
quantitative analysis and the use of online databases for intelligence
gathering. She is also experienced in modeling and simulation work. In
addition to her analytic work, Dina co-authored several studies, including a
global trade outsourcing study. Prior experience includes work as an e-commerce tele-consultant
on behalf of Microsoft b-Central.
Brian Woolsey. After a career in the Public Service and
subsequent work in the insurance industry, Brian has worked extensively
with The Brondesbury Group. He has interviewed both buyers and sellers of
financial services around the globe as part of this work. During his career
in the public service, both federally and provincially, Brian successfully
developed and executed business plans aiming to improve communication with
the public. In the latter part of his career, Brian’s work focused on creating
public and private sector joint ventures. His understanding of the public
and private sector is integral to his work with The Brondesbury Group.
